-My thermomerter says the tank is 30 degrees but my heater is set to 24 or 26 how do i lower the temp?
The tank is 24 gallons and just has a leopard sailfin pleco in at the momenthaving an air pump running can help lower the temp, as far as I have read oxygenated water is cooler than water without additional oxygen supplied. My 10 gallon tanks always get warmer in the summer than I'd like. I've thought about taking my air pump upstairs to use for the smaller tanks and just use a splitter, but I'm out of outlets and my hubby doesn't like the constant hum.
I use a house fan in my bedroom and just point it in the direction of those 2 tanks, it helps since I don't have a/c on the 2nd floor yet. My 20g is running around 25-26 in the same room as the small a/c. I also turn the tank lights off on the 10 gallon tanks as they are both incandescent lights still.
If it's going up to 30C or higher in a 20g+ tank your home must be terribly hot in general.
Now all that said, there is a chance it is a heater issue that it is actually over heating.
Just so birdguy knows, 30 degrees is about 86F, settle down a little and research before you start criticizing someone please.whoah! your tank needs to be a least 75 degrees for a pleco or any kind of fish. GEESH!
If your fish isn't already dead, hurry up and set your heater to 80!!!
please tell me you're trolling!
