-whenever my dog jumps on the couch where i am he whacks his paw against my face and i get really annoyed so i gently push or carry him off so he does not get hurt but whenever he looks and or walks past me i sarcastically smile at him but i still love himDepending on the size of the dog, It is not a good idea to allow him on the furniture in the first place. Secondly "pawing" should be stopped if he is allowed on the couch. Start some training immediately to stop the behavior. Watch him closely and you will know when he is going to jump or crawl onto the couch. Quickly, block him with an open hand palm outward, and forcefully give him a command of "no" or "shhhhhs" If you can work at that for about a week, he will start watching you for permission, instead of Demanding it!Dogs do need love and attention you know. How would you like it if you kept going up to your mum or dad, wanting a hug or something but they just kept pushing you away and didn't bother with you? If you play with him, it'll eventually tire him out and he'll go to sleep for a couple of hours, then that means he won't annoy you. So basically, if you do something for him - which is playing with him, he'll do something for you - which is sleeping and leaving you alone.
I don't get the sarcastic smile, but he can't be hitting you in the face. Moving him gently is the right thing to do.
That's not nice. He/she's part of the family.
