Which is a better pet guinea pig or rat?

-Pros and consWell I have both, so I say either! Iv owned both, plus a dog for a few years and neither have ever done me wrong. If I had to choose, id say rat, only because they are more personable, its easier to get a cuddling response from them, (most piggies never cuddle) and I simply love it when my baby Mimi sits on my shoulders and burrows under my long hair. Plus she gives kisses and not many piggies do. Its a rare day indeed! (Of course, our Sheldon did but he was like one out of 10,000 or something like that. Plus it was just my husband. He bit me. Never knew why. I cleaned his cage and fed him every day. Oh well.) I love owning both at the same time because then you can have the best of both worlds.I recomend Guinea Pigs

Pros:

1. They tend to bite less

2. They Live longer

3. Make very cute sounds

4. They are very friendly

5. You can take them for a walk if you wish

6. Don't need to buy an expensive large cage

7. Will quietly sit in your hands

Cons:

1. They need a supplement of Vitamin C so you must buy treats that have Vitamin C

2. Their teeth never stop growing so you must have treats for it to bite on.

3. Although They are social, they are shy.

Rats

Pros:

1. You can Train them to do tricks

2. They are very social

3. They will enjoy another rat in the same cage

1. Although they don't bite often, if you get a rat that does, it's bite will hurt a lot worse then guinea pigs

2. They have a lot of health issues

3. they need big cages

4. They have strong teeth so they bite and chew everything

5. Don't live long compare to guinea pigs

6. Can't use woodshavings for it's bedding

BUUUUT, make sure the rat you get is a dumbo rat. I have two, but theyre different kinds because they were bred as snake food:( Anyways, Binkie is super nice. I've had her for 2 1/2 years and she's bit me once. She looooves to play. Coo on the other handd..... She's probs bit me over ten times, and bites almost everyone that goes near the cage. Matter of fact, yesterday morning she got her teeferz about 2 1/2 milimeters deep into my finger... I was like bleeding out in my living room..

Binkie=dumbo.

Coo= norway rat. They're meant to live in the wild.

This one looks JUST LIKE Coo (mean one) http://wildlifecontrolinfo.com/images/rat/NorwayRat.jpg

This one's shaped like Binkie(super nice one) ... they all have different markings

The only bad thing is a lot of them eventually will get respiratory infections:/

I have this cage for them: http://www.petco.com/product/15487/Super-Pet-Multi-Floor-Ferret-Home.aspx

And they LVOVE IT. But, the only bad thing, is if theyre baby or young, they might be able to frit through the bars.

GET A RAT. Geunie pigs just squeel all day, and bit, and you can't hold them.
guinea pigs need lots of food and normally live longer then rats which need a big cage also. but rats are more sociable and friendly. get a rat. they are awsome
guinea pig is more cuter and rats duh duh duh it is tiny and easy to run away
