Anyone know about great Pyrenees?

-I just got a mix breed, father was full blooded great Pyrenees, mother was German Shepard and pit bull. The dog is solid white and has the bone structure of the Pyrenees also he has one dew claw on each back leg (which is very ugly). Does it sound to you like maybe he inherited more of the Pyrenees genes. I am asking because i am really hoping that this dog will have his fathers size. by the way he is 8 weeks old, weighs about 13 pounds and his paws are about 2 inches wide. I know this question might be out there but this actually my first time even hearing of this type of breed, so i was hoping that there was a breeder or owner out there that knows the size of a full blooded Pyrenees at about 8 weeks. Thanks!If you join a good yahoo pyr group, you'll get more better answers and won't have to put up with Lindsay B!!!!!

Before you DO anything, let me explain that you DO NOT REMOVE dew claws from great pyrenees dogs. Beauty is in the eyes of the beholder. I consider dew claws to be pretty and unique. Few dogs need them but pyrs use them and they are attached to the leg bone structure so the dog can use them. My pyrs all have double hind dew claws and single front dew claws.

8 weeks and 13# sounds about right for a pyr size dog. In the next two months his paws will get BIGGER and he'll get LEGS... He'll change from a snowball to a dog that has real legs. They won't grow evenly, however. It seems that just as he gains his balance and coordination, either the hind or forelegs will grow and throw his balance off and he'll have to relearn how to do things, even walking and running can look awkward at those times. I never measured the width of my dogs' paws, but that would be a fun question for you to ask in our pyr group. We have a lot of new pyr owners and a lot of rescue pyrs in our group. As a pyr pup grows, they weigh roughly about 10# for every month of age up until about 7 to 9 months of age when the growth rate snows down tremendously and they are almost adult size, but need to bulk up and muscle up.

If you know the parents height at the withers and weight, the pup will be somewhere in the middle as an adult. This pup's father was pure pyr, so she may have more pyr traits. The % of traits from each breed with vary. That's how genetics works, and you only learn what traits she's got from each bread by reading up on all those breeds and being very observant.

Pyrs are low energy dogs and GSD are high energy dogs. I'm not sure about pit bulls.

Pyrs are calm. GSD can be hyper. Pit bulls can be dog unfriendly.

Attending obedience class with your dog will help you and the dog a LOT! -!-I dont know the weight of an 8 week old however it does sound like he did get a good amount of his dads genes. I dont think he will be as large if he weighs 13 pounds at 8 weeks. I do hope you are an experienced dog handler though. The combination of those 3 can be a disaster if you dont know how to train well.
It's PUREBRED, not full blooded. and it's spelled SHEPHERD. This is NOT a breed, it's a mix, crossbred, mongrel, mutt. As in all mutts, there is no predictabilty. Breeders don't breed mutts. I do hope that you adopted this dog from a shelter/rescue and are not lining the pockets of some irresponsible backyard greeder.
He inherited alot of Pyrenees. But judging by paw size he will probably get his German shepherds size or a little above. But no guarantees. Jujube by his odd dew claws thats a Pyrenees thing. My Pyrenees had 7 toes in front and 2 sets of dew claws
Here is the standard for the Great Pyr.......the extra dew claw is typical of Great Pyrs;
