Help!Dog ate roach powder poison!?

-My 1 and a half year old chihuahua ate roach poison. It was roach bait,so it was mashed potatoes with poison roach powder in it.It was on a little plastic plate. And my dog ate a couple peices.i dont know how much.its been like an hour.we had given her water to drink first.then olive oil to induce vomiting.we DO NOT want to put hydrogen pryoxide in her.At ALL.please help.We are too poor to take her to the vet or call animal poison controllwhat can we do???

the poison is called

boric acid roach killer..Well, this is not good. Rat and roach poison often causes symptoms similar to an immune disorder, and often cause this disorder. Make sure your dog does not:

~Develop reddish spots on her tummy or anywhere else

~Vomit blood

~Act restless or weak.

If this happens, you will have to just treat her well and hope she gets through it. Some dogs don't react to things like this. Make sure she vomits up the poison!

Next time, do not let your dog go inside of rooms you have poisoned! Make sure they are off-limits!

Good luck with your dog. :)"Because boric acid is only slightly toxic, unless your pet ate large amounts, the veterinarian may recommend a "wait-and-see" approach, while taking precautions to ensure the dog doesn't become dehydrated from vomiting. In more serious cases, the veterinarian will attempt to eliminate the poison from your dog's stomach, through either vomiting or the use of a laxative. However, poisoning by boric acid would rarely, if ever, result in a severe enough illness to require these measures that are used more often in cases of more toxic poisons."

your best bet is to pour hydrogen peroxide down her throat, i know you don't want to do that, but the sooner she throws it up, the better off she will be. then feed her tums, that will help to soak up the remaining poison. boric acid will severely dehydrate her so make sure she has lots of water.

you should take him to the vet asap, so they can start him on fluids.

there are programs for poor people that will help you pay your vet bills out in a way that is reasonable. just take him to the vet.
You need to get him to the vet if she ate large amounts. Since you are 14, have your parents (or other close relative) take him to vet. If it was a small amount, she will probably live, but will get sick from eating it.

If money is a problem, then you shouldnt have a pet at all. If she does not get the medical attention she needs, she can easily die, especially since it is a small dog.
Apparently, in small amounts, boric acid is only mildly toxic, and the main danger is dehydration from vomitting.

What is a small amount? I don't know. Your vet would.

If you can't afford her, your options are - surrender her to a charity that will pay for her treatment and find her a new home (where peole are willing to pay for vet fees); or watch and see whether she lives or slowly dies.

Please have a plan for emergency vet needs.
You have Internet but are too poor to phone poison information line, come on, seriously?

That is the least you should do or try phoning your vet (if you have one) and ask there advise. Otherwise start digging a hole...
do what they told you to do 15 minutes ago when you asked this question. if you got the internet to be asking this question then you aint poor. it may be your to lazy. take the dog to the vet
Your too poor to CALL animal control, I don't think so. If you want your dog to live bring it to a vet, worry about money later. You dog is small and will most likely die if you don't.
Boric acid will not kill your dog.
Your dog has no hope. It will slowly die one of the most painful deaths ever. Congratulations on being a moron!
Too poor to call an 800 number? This whole story is complete BS.
Take him to the vet!!!!

  1. Maybe this person had money when they got the dog and something happened that they don't now. One has no way of knowing their situation. You would not like it if someone was so mean to you, if you were honestly having a hard time. By the way, the agencies you are talking about only help once a diagnosis is made. Compassion, understanding and empathy would be great. God Bless
