Riding out with a excitable green horse?

-i have a green broken Arab pony who, gets very excitable going on the property, she is fine going down the very quiet streets surrounded by trees even if there are garbage bins or plastic bags floating around, she just cruises and looks at everything

but as soon as you go towards the more "suburban" type and there's nothing going on in the street either

she just goes off her rocker she gets so excited about all the new surroundings!:S prances everywhere, backs up into objects [when she backs up i mean she literally fly's backwards] i get her to walk forward and reward as she walks forward,

but once she starts going backwards thats the end of it she will just keep going back even if you do manage to get her to go forward, she doesn't try to go home she just gets so excited!

she has walked these areas on lead multiple times but its the same reaction, even if i take her out in company shes the same so i have never been able to go out very far

i would be fine if she even bolted but going backwards just drives me insane i stay out for about an hour trying to get her to move forward

shes the first pony i've had that does this when we go out,

shes great with tarps, loud sounds, buckets on her head being vaulted on, sudden movements, kangaroos, rabbits, kids playing on there bikes in her paddock

all the other ponies Ive had you were able to jump on as soon as they were broken in and go for a little outing with little trouble, and they are all broken in the same, but they did have more handling as a youngster then her even if they were abused, but they all lived out in the middle of nowhere.

she was bought up right in the middle of it all

any tips, on how to stop this pony going backwards and more forward out on trails?Just another suggestion, besides all the other peoples ideas which are also very good! Why don`t you try long-reining her up the road and around about where this happens. At least then, you will be behind her to drive her on and keep her on the go. If she`s genuinely nervous of something, let her look and sniff it,talking kindly to her to give her the confidence and then when you know she`s ok, urge her on passed it. Try keeping her moving forward all the time and when she does this really well, only then start riding her again? If she starts her funny games, make sure you turn her to get her going again and make her think that you are in control all the time! Otherwise she could just be `having you on`.

If nothing else works, i would seriously have her sight checked as mentioned before.

Best of luck! She sounds like a sweetheart but needs to learn how to behave on the trail. Have you tried riding with a group of people on more laid-back horses? It might do her good to see the other horses walking along calmly. You can put a halter under her bridle and throw a leadrope to someone if she starts up with her shenanigans. Also, you could try ponying her! Good luck!
Have you tried hand-walking her? With or without the saddle?

And make sure you're not tensing up because you think you know what she'll do. She may feel you getting "scared" and think she needs to be "scared" too.
Have you tried wearing spurs or even carring a whip. Not to hurt her but just to use as a encouragment to move forward?
be very careful as this can soon escalate into rearing. instead of kicking and kicking to make her go, turn her gently one way or the other which will put a "pause" on the backing u. i am not taling about whipping her around in little circles, just a gentle step or 2 to the side before asking her to go forward. have you had her vision checked?
No, it would not be fine if she bolted as she would make this into a habit as well and in a few months you will be asking the same question.

Maybe you are pulling back on the reins as you think you know what she is going to do and are scared.

Why is suburban in speech marks?

Why do you put buckets on your pony's head?
You should introduce her to these things slowly. If she's a baby, let her handle being ridden and get her used to more things on the farm before you start going out on roads with her. You might want to get her vision checked as well, she could be reacting this way because she can't see things very well. Pony her out with a very experienced horse who doesn't care about these things and work up to you riding her and having her out while someone else is riding the experienced horse. When she backs up from things make her go up to them and investigate them instead of allowing her to overreact. Good luck!
