How much does chicken feed cost for...?

-I will be getting 10 hens for my backyard, and I was wondering how much chicken feed costs per year. And scratch? and grit? Thank you!Well I have a flock of 17 chickens and they go through a 50 pound bag of feed in week and a half. So the 50lb bag costs $18 where I live. So you could say 56weeks in a year, divided by 1.5 = 33...so 33 bags of feed for about 20 chickens, so 33 divided by 2 = 16.5 ...16.5 times $18 = $297 ...



So it should cost about $300 a year and since they lay eggs you should base that on how much you sell eggs for, if you sell them...if not, you have farm fresh eggs. So assuming each chicken will lay at least 3 eggs a week you should sell your eggs for about $3 or $4 a dozen.
