My staffy's pads on his paw has come off!?

-He was limping this morning and wouldn't get out of his bed, i looked at his two front paws and on his pad, the hard rough skin has gone.

I have tryed to clean it but it's hurting him alot. My husband ain't in til tonight and we can't take him to the vet until tomorrow morning.

His pantin as if his really hot aswell.

I want to know if there's anything i can do until tomorrow.

If anyone has any advice please tell me..

And please don't put take him to the vet cos we're taking him tomorrow.the poor thing! im so sorry, this is probably as distressing to you as it is to him. While waiting it might be best to cover it with a little bandage and pt a baby sock over it (spray the bandage with a very small squirt of salvon but no strong disinfectant as it will sting, and get a baby sock or other material to keep it in place) while doing this it would be best to judge his reactions, if he doesnt like it and gets aggressive stop, best to distract with treats or soft talking and pets. the last thing im going to say may be a little controversal and is only a desperation method. when my cat injured his paw and the vets was closed on the sunday it happened i was told by a friend (they were training as a vet so thats why i phoned them) to give them a little bit of a baby calpol sachet and rub it into their gums. he did say you should never give animals human medication but BABY calpol, not childrens, did reduce pain and fever in animals- to be fair the stuff is probably tested on animals first- it did make my cat noticeably more comfortable, but i would advise you not to do this as i dont believe owners should medicate their animals, i was just in a very distressed state. but at the end of the day what you really need to do is give him a quiet space to sleep in with plenty of water and food, and try not to check up on him every 5mins, half an hour is enough. when animals r injured sleep is the best thing for them. and just wanted to add it sounds like your lad may have stepped in a bit of glass or cut himself on something. let us know how he gets on and all the bestIf you can't get him to the vets till tomorrow there isn't alot you can do. Ty to keep the area clean by if possible rinsing the pad in warm salt water even if that just mean gentle dipping his paws in it rather than bath with cotton wool. Do this several times a day. But if he want let you as it is to painful don't force him not worth getting bite over or causing him more upset. Don't take him for walks just let him go in garden and try and keep him from overdoing it. It is natural that he might want to lick at it at that is ok as long as he doesn't over do it.
Your dog is distressed, the panting is showing you that.

As this is painful and uncomfortable it makes in an emergency situation.

Has he walked in some thing like a solvent, bleach or acid or some thing you have used in the house ?

To make him wait until tomorrow is cruel and unkind and you run the risk of even bigger bills as you leave and opening for infection to set in.
a wet cool washrag will help your cat cool down..........

as far as the pads are concerned........i would get cotton balls and use some peroxide and dab the balls with peroxide.........

i would soak the pads with them .........the fizzing action is killing the germs and healing the wound...............
Look for a vet online near your area that has an emergency section, and give them a call. I did that once when my cat's paw was bleeding and they told me to put flour on it to stop the bleeding. If he licks it off, it won't harm him at all..but that's if it's bleeding.

Also (again, if it's bleeding), don't use hot water to clean his paws. Use cold water, as it will constrict the blood vessels and stop the bleeding.

As for being hot, make sure the room isn't hot and get him to drink a lot of water. Your best bet is to call a vet to see what you can do right now, to comfort your cat throughout the night, and get him to a vet the next day.

Good luck! xx
