Where should I get a puppy from?

-I don't want to get one in a pet store, I've heard what they do to their poor mothers.. I don't really want to get one from a shelter :\ where should I get one from?There are lots of breeders near you that you don't know about. And looking in the newspaper will bring you to people you don't know anything about, like their studs and b*tches, their raising methods, where the pups are brought up, shots and vaccine information, etc. And you don't want to get one from a pet store, as most of the pups are from puppy mills AND overpriced. And a shelter dog just isn't fitting you. Wanna find a breeder near you?

Good luck with this breeder and have fun with your new puppy!If you really want a healthy puppy, you go to a reputable breeder. Most of the shelter dogs are still from backyard breeders or mills and are not always a healthy dog any more. They can (and do) have temperament and behavior problems as well as health problems.



You take your chances with a shelter dog now - just keep in mind where they are coming from.
look in your local newspaper in the pet section and there's always dogs free to a good home in there that need homes.

Sometimes an owner has to move and doesn't have a yard or health problems arise or they go overseas etc.

Friends of mine have done it and are really happy they did, its worth a go :-)
The only other option is probably puppy mills, but all those dogs are abused and should be put to sleep so they don't starve and live in pain.



I reccomend getting one from a high kill shelter cause you can really save a puppy:) thats where I got my dog.



Just go on petfinder.com and on the left side put dog and your location(you dont need breed). Then press search. Then still on the left side check

Age. Baby or young (you want a puppy)

Gender. Male or female (you DONT need to check all of them)

Size. Size possibly small

Other Considerations. If you want check one

My household has... if you have cats dogs or young children check them because some dogs are vicious around them.

I would suggest you adopt one from an animal rescue shelter. Do not buy. Adopting one saves a dog's life from being put to sleep.
